Take Positive Action to Change Your Life

Mind Muscle Connection

Do you often find yourself dreaming about the future? Fantasising or talking about ‘the day’ when you will finally get around to starting your own business, or even get around to starting that training program? We are all guilty of it. No matter how much we plan and talk about what we intend to do or achieve, some people never seem to get any further than our intentions, no matter how good they may seem.

I am a huge believer in positive thinking. I have seen first hand how positive thinking can result in positive action which in turn yields positive results and leads to huge success. Positive thinking can help you make changes that will benefit you in many ways. I really can’t say enough good things about it.

The problem with most people is that they think in a positive manner but don’t actually take action after “thinking Positive”. Every action as a reaction and sadly without action, there can be no moving forward. The trick here is to get your thoughts out of your out of your head and start taking positive action.

Rather than just keeping the positivity to yourself, you need to share it. Having a positive influence on those around you will change the way you feel inside. My life hasn’t been the easiest, with some difficult times to say the least and just being positive daily and sharing this with others made me a happier person.

Taking action means doing things that are good for you and never doing anything that could possibly harm you. When you set a goal and actually start working towards it make sure your tasks are goals orientated to the task at hand don’t get sidetracked trying to do other things that can slow your process down. Be patient and trust the process.

The same principle holds true if you want to lose weight (which many think about as summer rolls around). We all know that crash diets don’t work. You have to approach your goal gradually and give yourself the time your body needs to react to your new healthy and balanced diet.

If you suffer from depression or anxiety, getting out of the house, the mall or better yet the gym, will help you deal with these conditions. Not only do you get exercise by walking around, you get to see people and things that will at least for a time, distract you from your mood. Physical activity reduces stress by releasing endorphins, which are feel-good hormones. Although both cardio and strength training stimulates your body to release endorphins, your body produces more endorphins in a faster period of time when you’re weightlifting than when you’re doing cardio. One of the most difficult parts of dealing with anxious or depressive moods is our tendency to ruminate, letting the same negative thoughts keep spinning around in our brains. Getting rid of the negative thoughts by doing something fun can help to break this cycle.

Taking action also means doing what you can to keep your family and social connections strong. Having an outsiders point of view can help you when you are lost when you’re struggling, and give you the direction that will help you deal with whatever you’re confronting. Often the people around us see things that we don’t, especially when we are unhappy. Try and keep an open mind when people are trying to help you through any hard times you are going through.

By opening your psyche to new experiences you not only broaden your horizons, you give yourself an emotional lift in the process. Doing new things creates positive chemicals in your brain, which makes you feel better about life and closer to your loved ones. Creating a vision board can ignite the flame inside you that you need to take positive action on your positive thoughts. Go on an adventure—even for just a day, see something new climb a mountain and take a bigger look at the beautiful world we live in.

Taking positive action makes things and people better. It’s that simple, and all you have to do is take the first step.
